Michelle Wie is Headed to Standford

Thursday 28 December 2006 @ 10:24 am

Quick news on the Michelle Wie front.

It looks as though Michelle Wie will be headed to stanford come fall where she will attend school. She won’t be able to play golf because she’s already turned pro so she won’t really be following in Tiger Woods’ footsteps.

She seems excited but I’m not sure how long she’ll last over there.

What do you think?

Thursday 14 December 2006 @ 7:47 am

Tiger Woods has done it again. And once again it was pretty much undisputed. In his short 10 years as a professional golfer Tiger Woods has one the PGA tour Player of the Year award for the eighth time!

His stats this year are amazing and he’s still going.

Earnings          $9.9 Million
Wins               8
Scoring Avg.    68.1
GIR                 74.2%

We recently asked the question “Will Tiger Woods Dominate on 2007?” Well, what do you think, will he?

Will Tiger Woods Dominate 2007?

Tuesday 12 December 2006 @ 1:47 pm

Tiger Woods had an up and down 2006. It started with some bumpy tournaments, his father passed away midway through the year, and then he proceeded to win darn near every golf tournament he entered.

He started the year with a couple of wins, a couple of out of the top tens and even a missing of the cut. But in the second half of the year Tiger has been nearly unbeatable. It started with the British Open and hasn’t stopped.

Tiger Woods has won 7 of his last 10 golf tournaments and finished second in two of those. He has been on an amazingly consistent and dominant streak and there’s no sign that he is going to slow down in the near future. After changing his swing over the past couple of years, a swing that was already dominant, it seems as though Tiger Woods is finding his groove.

I predict that 2007 will be even more dominant than last year for Tiger Woods. He always has the chance of winning the grand slam in one single year, and he will be looking to better his winning streak from this year and go after the record books some more.

Do you think Tiger Woods will dominate in 2007 or do you think the other players on tour will finally catch up?

Annika Sorenstam Getting into Golf Design

Thursday 9 November 2006 @ 10:49 am

Not to be outdone by Tiger Woods and his new golf course design company Annika Sorenstam will be doing a little golf course designing of her own.

It was just announced that the world’s number 1 women golfer will redesign the Patriots Point Links Golf Course in South Carolina. The original design was done by Willard Byrd in 1980 and will now be redone by Annika Sorenstam. It’s a par 72 6,925 yard course that skirts the Charelston Harbor.

Annika Sorenstam is already helping to design a new course in South Africa but this will be her first in the States.

Tiger Woods is Starting his own Golf Course Design Business

Wednesday 8 November 2006 @ 7:48 am

Following in the footstpes of other great players like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods wil be starting his own golf course design company called Tiger Woods Design.

Tiger Woods has said about the company that his goal is to “provide a unique collection of amazing courses all over the world that represent what [he loves] about golf.”

I for one can’t wait to see what he designs. Should be challenging and very popular. Expect long waits at these courses.

Tigers Earnings Year to Year - March to $1 Billion

Saturday 21 October 2006 @ 11:15 am

Tiger Woods has been a cash machine ever since he turn pro back in 1996. He’s earned a total of $547 million in those 10 years and this year looks to be another banner year for Mr. Woods.

He earns an amazing amount on tour, and that’s because he just keeps winning. But the real money comes from endorsements, and rightfully so. He single handedly brought a golf department to Nike. Back in 1996 Tiger inked a contract with the sports apparel and equipement giant at a time when Nike had no golf equipement.

Now they have one of the top selling drivers in the sasquatch and they have a plethora of irons, putters, and one of the priciest golf balls on the market.

Take a look below at Tiger Woods’ earning year to year. GolfDigest.com puts Tiger at a lifetime earnings of a Billion Dollars! by 2010.

Tiger Woods on Swing Vision with Driver

Tuesday 26 September 2006 @ 5:56 pm

Here’s a great little clip I found on Youtube.com. Swing vision, the real steady and slowed down sing analysis that CBS integrates into it’s broadcast of most PGA tour events has a great little clip of Tiger Woods driving the ball off the tee. Enjoy!

Europe reigns supreme in the Ryder Cup

Sunday 24 September 2006 @ 8:22 pm

Team Europe handed the US Team most convincing defeat Sunday as they hand the US team an 18 1/2 - 9 1/2 victory. That victory matched the blow out dealt to the US team in 2004 where the Europeans were victorious in convincing fashion.

The victory came with a few quirks though. Tiger Woods, who played magnificent;y during his matches was on the seventh green, just beyond the water when his caddie, Steve Williams decided to wash his 9 iron in the pond just shy of where the two were standing. Steve slipped and in went his 9 iron. The amusing thing was Williams looked back at Woods in a way that seemed as though Wiliams was just brushing off what happened. You just dropped the number one players 9 iron in the water!

Woods appeared to shrug it off and laugh a bit, which was all they could do. A diver later retrieved the club and returned it to it’s rightful owner on number 15.

Also interesting on the final day was the fact that the European team could have won in record fashion, breaking their 2004 mark. However in what would become a deciding gentlemenly gesture, Paul McGinley gave American J.J. Henry a 25 foot putt on the 18th hole which allowed the Americans an extra half point.

Although there was still players out on the course, the European team had the cup won and McGinley thought it the right thing to do. He probably will be getting some crap for that but that doesn’t erase the fact that those guys spanked the Americans.

Does Tiger Woods need any more Fuel?

Wednesday 20 September 2006 @ 12:31 pm

Tiger Woods’ wife was attacked yesterday by a Dublin magazine called the Dubliner. His wife, Elin Woods, and pretty much every other American golfers wife was attacked by the magazine saying they “cannot keep their clothes on in public,”.

About Mrs. Woods the paper claims she can be seen “in a variety of sweaty poses on porn sites across the web.”

These false claims have enraged Tiger Woods as well as the rest of the US Ryder Cup team. With Tiger Woods playing some of the best golf in the world right now, you have to wonder if making him mad is the best idea right now.

You can read more about what was said in the article and what Tiger Woods said at ESPN.com - COLUMNIST - Wojciechowski: Woods’ anger will lead to U.S. victory
