Tiger Woods was “ready to win” as he told reporters this past week during practice rounds at the course in Lemont, Illinois. However, his first round must not have been the round he was thinking about making his move.
Phil Mickelson on the other hand is keeping up his push for the top of every tournament he enters this year. He sites one back of the leaders shooting a 4 under 67 on the par 71 course. A course that measures 7,326 yards (Cog Hill). Vijay Singh also sits at 4 under with a 66 in the first round.
Tiger Woods on the other hand shot a 1 over 72 at Cog Hill, certainly not himself yet. Woods struggled off the tee thursday where he once needed three tee shots just to get a playable ball. That hole ended with a bogey, which was his second straight for the day. His putting was close but not close enough. He did however end the day with a birdie on 18.
4 share the lead after the first day of play; Joe Ogilvie, Lucas Glover, Daniel Chopra and David McKenzie shot a 5-under 66.
