J.J. Henry, not your household name, won his first PGA tour event in front of the home town crowd. The Buick Championship was held in Cromwell, Conn. this past weekend not too far from Henry’s hometown of Fairfield, Conn.
J.J. Henry won with a pretty decisive three stroke lead over secure himself a spot at this years British Open and move him into 26th on the Ryder Cup Team Points list.
His round ended with a par on the 18th hole where he launched a 361 yard drive straight down the middle of the fairway. He chipped on and two putted for par. That capped off four rounds of under par play finishing the last 36 holes with only three bogeys. With the win Henry also took home the $792,000.00 paycheck.
Not bad for your first win on tour.
